MANAMA: Al Baik, a leading Saudi Arabian quick-service chain, will open its second international outlet at Bahrain International Airport’s (BIA) new passenger terminal building.

The announcement follows the signing of a five-year concession agreement between Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), BIA’s operator and manager, and Al Baik.

After signing the agreement BAC chief executive Mohamed Al Binfalah said, “Our goal for the new terminal is to deliver comfort, connections and character at every stage of passengers’ journeys, and having a diverse selection of food and beverage outlets is an important part of the process. The Al Baik outlet at the airport is located in the arrivals area, making it accessible to both the passengers and the public. We look forward to working with them to bring this Saudi Arabian favourite to Bahrain and travellers from around the world.”

Al Baik’s chief executive Adil Al Baqr, who signed on behalf of the restaurant chain, said: “We’re delighted to enter the Bahrain market and to be part of one of the most important national projects in the country’s history. Al Baik’s success has been built on hard work and a dedication to serving generations of loyal customers high-quality meals quickly and courteously.”

The new terminal at BIA will feature food and beverage outlets spread over a total area of 899sqm, including the arrivals and departures concourses.

In addition to well-known quick-service favourites and local brands, the new terminal will offer several regional debuts, including the first TGI Fridays in an airport in the Gulf, the region’s first EAT restaurant, and the Middle East’s first Jamie’s Deli and Pizzeria – a concept from celebrity chef Jamie Oliver.

Meanwhile, BAC has also signed a five-year concession agreement for the operation of a retail outlet with Zain Bahrain.

Mr Al Binfalah signed the deal with Zain Bahrain managing director Mohammed Zainalabedin in the presence of Transportation and Telecommunications Minister and BAC chairman Kamal Ahmed as well as Zain Bahrain chairman Shaikh Ahmed bin Ali Al Khalifa.

“We are pleased to partner with Zain Bahrain to provide everything visitors need to access the kingdom’s high-speed telecommunications services,” said the BAC official, adding “We are confident that visitors will appreciate the wide selection of services available at the new terminal and the highest levels of service that Bahrain has to offer.”

Mr Zainalabedin commented: “The new terminal is a gateway to the kingdom, and it is Zain Bahrain’s mandate to provide our guests and customers with the highest quality services. Our presence in the arrivals hall at the new terminal is also ideal for returning residents, giving them access to our products and services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”

Alongside Zain, stc Bahrain and Batelco will operate retail outlets and offer their services at the new terminal.
