Oman : Barceló Hotel Group’s iconic Barceló Mussanah Resort will be the exclusive host venue for the 50th edition of the prestigious Youth Sailing World Championships 2021 – World Sailing's flagship event for youth sailors – taking place from 11th December 2021 to 18th December 2021, in Mussanah, Oman.
Spectators and sailing enthusiasts can look forward to a thrilling racing event structured to include five days of racing featuring over 350 sailors from 64 nations taking to the waters of Mussanah in separate male, female and mixed competitions.
Situated on the beachfront in the south of Al Batinah region, the four-star resort’s 308 rooms will be made available for competitors, coaches, officials and all event staff involved in the regatta alongside a range of restaurants and sports and leisure facilities. The property offers state of the art sailing facilities for competitors, coaches and equipment providers with a fully staffed workshop and facilities for sanding, spray, fiberglass and engine repairs. Additionally, Barceló Mussanah Resort’s quality 54-berth marina, managed by Oman Sail, provides dockside support and first-class facilities including boat cleaning, assistance upon arrival, and a fuel dock.

In line with Oman’s Vision 2040, the tournament will be accompanied by a thorough environmental education programme to raise awareness on preserving Oman’s natural landscape. Elite sailors will visit schools, promote the event and encourage all to sign up to the UN Environment Clean Seas Campaign: #CleanSeas. Training on environmental awareness will be delivered to all event staff and volunteers with a pre-environmental online survey issued to all participants to benchmark their green awareness before and after the event.
