Dubai, UAE – Egypt’s new Tourism Minister Dr Rania Al-Mashat attended Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai for the first time and described the trade show as a successful platform to explain to leading political and travel industry leaders from the Gulf region that her home nation was a dynamic, diverse and safe place to visit.

Dr Al-Mashat said: “The Gulf is expected to play a significant role in bolstering tourism in Egypt as arrivals from the region will contribute positively to drive growth in Egypt’s popular tourism sector for years to come.

We are also working hard with tour operators and travel agents from throughout the Middle East, as well as further afield around the world, to showcase that Egypt is a tourist destination like no other and that now is the time for travellers to visit the country as we build on a strong performance in 2017 and a steep increase in tourist numbers in the first quarter of 2018.”

Tourism from the Arab countries represents 30 per cent of total visitors to the country. Moreover, Egypt was the fastest growing global tourism destination last year according to the World Tourism Barometer and the whole of the nation is determined to build on that success.

There are several tourism investment projects that will be announced, aimed at attracting international investors and appeal to high-yield tourists.
