Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced on Monday that it has completed 72.38 percent of the 829 megawatts (MW) fourth phase of H-Station at Al Aweer.

The Dubai utility said in a statement that 1.1-billion project would help DEWA meet the reserve margin criterion set for peak electricity demand in Dubai.

The project is being implemented by a consortium comprising of Germany's Siemens and Egypt's ELSEWEDY Power and is expected to be operational by the end of 2021.

DEWA said it has, so far, completed over 6 million safe working hours on the project without recording any injuries.

H-Station has a current total capacity of 1,996 MW, and once the fourth phase is complete, it would have a total capacity of 2,825 MW.

DEWA's current installed power generation capacity stands at 11,700 MW.
