Zain KSA has announced the successful expansion of its 5G network in Dammam’s 2nd Industrial City in collaboration with the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON), thus empowering more than 612 Saudi and global factories with advanced 5G capabilities and an array of technical support services.

Owing to this fruitful collaboration between “Zain KSA” and “Modon,” Dammam’s 2nd Industrial City which covers a total area of 48 million square meters will benefit from the 5G network coverage. Which will consequently reinforce the rapid development of existing industries including non-metallic minerals, chemical substances, textiles, clothing, and leathers, and food and beverage products, through augmenting operational procedures in production, storage, export, and distribution levels.

Zain KSA Chief Business and Wholesale Officer Eng. Saad Al-Sadhan expressed his confidence in the positive impact this achievement will make for the Saudi industrial sector, stating “By covering Dammam’s 2nd Industrial City with our advanced 5G network, we add a new milestone to Zain KSA’s substantial record of supporting strategic national projects. We continue to enhance the Saudi 5G experience onto two levels: horizontally - where we expand our 5G coverage geographically as much as possible, and vertically - where we focus on specific sectors that the Kingdom has high advantages and competitive potentials in.” He added: “Through this futuristic approach, Zain KSA contributes towards attaining two key national goals: supporting a comprehensive digital transformation as per the directives of Saudi Vision 2030, and accelerating the Kingdom’s fourth industrial revolution which will instill a strong infrastructure for a diversified economy that will raise Saudi Arabia’s economic competitiveness, and in particular its industrial capabilities.”

Eng. Al-Sadhan also listed the numerous features offered by the 5G network, including advanced solutions and services such as virtual and augmented reality, automation, 3D printing,  robotics, and much more, in addition to profound potentials in developing AI applications that will pave the way for Saudi Arabia’s progress in numerous vital sectors.

On his end, Director General of MODON Eng. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Salem commended Zain KSA as a key partner of MODON in its quest to amplify the role of industrial sectors in increasing local content as directed by Saudi Vision 2030 and MODON’s initiatives within the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP).

He added that the joint efforts to expand the 5G network across industrial cities will largely contribute in presenting world-class telecommunications services that fulfil MODON’s National Productivity Program targets that seek to equip non-oil sectors and factories with advanced capabilities. To accomplish highly efficient productivity levels, through transformational plans that embrace operational excellence principles and fourth industrial revolution technologies. Moreover, he stated that MODON is working on an initiative to entice digital transformation in factories and industrial facilities through providing essential digital tools and encouraging the adoption of open source technologies.

Furthermore, and in parallel with its backing of mega projects with 5G capabilities, Zain KSA continues to offer the largest 5G network coverage in the Kingdom with a total of 50 cities enabled by more than 4600 towers to date. The company is keen on supporting this geographical expansion with outstanding service quality, and has become the first telecommunications operator in the world to offer 5G carrier aggregation, which enables internet speeds of 2.4 Gbps.

Those achievements are added to a plethora of accolades attained by Zain KSA recently, including three awards during the 14th edition of Telecom Review Leader’s Summit under the categories: “Best 5G User Growth”, “Best Infrastructure/5G Deployment” and “Best Cloud Provider”. Furthermore, Zain KSA’s outstanding services were internationally recognized after it was awarded “Saudi Arabia’s fastest fixed Internet” from Ookla, owner of the acclaimed SpeedTest website for measuring Internet speeds globally.
