Amman: Reinforcing the legendary status of the Middle East’s most capable off-road vehicle, Toyota has launched the eagerly-awaited GR SPORT edition of its iconic Land Cruiser in the region. The all-new GR SPORT Land Cruiser was refined and developed in the heat of the Dakar Rally - the world's toughest race - whereby improvements requested by participating drivers fed directly into the development of a vehicle that combines a spacious and comfortable interior with unrivalled all-terrain performance that adds a sense of adventure to every trip.

“Forged in the renowned Dakar Rally, the all-new GR SPORT Land Cruiser is the latest chapter in the story of a vehicle that has earned its place in the hearts of drivers around the world. More than 10.4 million Land Cruisers have been enjoyed by customers in 170 countries, especially here in the Middle East where the vehicle has earned a loyal following thanks to its reliability, durability and superior driving performance, especially off-road. The go-anywhere capabilities of the GR SPORT Land Cruiser truly deliver the joy of mobility, offering drivers and passengers unrivalled performance, safety and comfort. We thank our loyal customers for their enduring support and remain committed to working hand-in-hand to create ever-better cars,” said Kei Fujita, Chief Representative, Middle East and Central Asia Representative ‎Office, Toyota Motor Corporation.

The all-new GR SPORT Land Cruiser comes with a choice of two newly developed V6 twin-turbo engines. The V6 twin-turbo 3.5-liter petrol engine achieves class-leading performance that surpasses that of a conventional V8, producing 409 hp and up to 650 nm, whereas the V6 twin-turbo engine 3.3-liter diesel variant is capable of 302 hp and up to 700 nm. Both of the newly developed engines are mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The suspension setup is especially tuned for superior off-road performance, featuring double-wishbone suspension at the front and a four-link rigid suspension at the rear, thus lending a higher level of stability across all terrains, whereas the lightweight, high-strength structure ensures excellent reliability and fuel efficiency. Additionally, the all-new GR SPORT Land Cruiser is available with Adaptive Variable Suspension System (AVS), which optimally controls the damping force based on driving conditions to extend refined ride comfort. The vehicle also introduces the All-Wheel Drive Integrated Management (AIM) concept, which delivers integrated control of its drive force, AWD, suspension, braking and steering systems according to driving conditions to bolster driving pleasure.

The all-new GR SPORT Land Cruiser is equipped with state-of-the-art off-road driver assistance features, including a three Differential Lock system (front, central and rear) that is unique in the segment and provides elevated off-road capabilities on rough terrain. Toyota’s all-new Electronic-Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (E-KDSS) enables independent front and rear suspension control with two independent loops mounted on a solid frame; a global first that creates enhanced ride comfort and stability both on- and off-road.

The cabin offers a range of advanced features such as wireless charging for smartphones (optional), Active Noise Control and a four-zone automatic air conditioning system with rear control switches. The cluster gauge boasts a seven-inch colour Multi-information Display (MID) and a 12.3-inch Multimedia display, which is enhanced with an exclusive GR SPORT start-up screen (when equipped with T-Connect Navigation System). Additional features available include a 14-speaker JBL sound system, Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) system with 11.6-inch touch-screen displays that are Wi-Fi and HDMI connection enabled, ventilation for the first and second row seats, a multi-adjustable power driver seat, fully flat-folding third-row seats, as well as smart entry and start systems.

As with other Toyota vehicles, safety remains a top priority for the all-new GR SPORT Land Cruiser, which comes with an advanced safety system. This is complemented by Toyota Safety Sense, an innovative safety technology package that includes a Pre-Collision System (PCS) that introduces new features, including Emergency Steering Assist (ESA) and Intersection Turn Assistance (ITA) to help prevent collisions with vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians. The package also comprises Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) with full-speed range, Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Lane Departure Alert (LDA) and Automatic High Beam (AHB), amongst other distinctive safety options.
