UAE Locally-owned supermarket Spinneys has re-opened the doors of its renovated King Faisal Road store in Sharjah, marking the beginning of a national rollout of its new store experience across the UAE. The branch, which was the first flagship store to open in the emirate in 1969, introduces Spinneys’ new-look Arabesque-inspired interiors and café concept.

The 22,000 sq ft store offers a convenient, high quality shopping experience that reflects the company’s mantra of ‘Eat Well, Live Well’. Committed to the health and wellbeing of its customers and the environment, the new store features more fresh food counters and a broader range of high-quality produce. Dedicated to sourcing locally wherever possible, shoppers can also stock up on a variety of fresh local produce including handpicked fruit, vegetables and seafood.

A key feature of the new store design is the counter-service café concept, Spinneys Kitchen Café – with its contemporary, vibrant design aesthetic. Only the second to launch in the UAE, customers can grab a coffee and a croissant, or sit and enjoy the specially curated menu including favourites such as Avocado Toast or Arabic mezze platter in the comfy seating space.

Supporting the community lies at the core of the company’s values and, as one of the country’s leading supermarket brands, Spinneys is always looking for ways to add more value to its offering.

Spinneys’ CEO Sunil Kumar, who worked in the Sharjah branch as an Assistant Store Manager, explains: “The reopening of the King Faisal Road Store emphasises Spinneys’ commitment to always innovating and offering our customers the very best products and experience. We want to thank them for their ongoing support – as we remain dedicated to providing outstanding customer service at all times. We look forward to welcoming some familiar and new faces at the store.”

Going over and above for its customers has long been part of the Spinneys’ brand DNA. Mrs Gail Elverd, a long-standing and loyal customer at King Faisal Road, reminisces: “I have been shopping at this store for 37 years. Back in 1990 I became ill and was not able to travel to the store. I used to fax in my grocery orders and the team would have them delivered to me every two weeks for three years. This was before you could order groceries online as one can today. All the store staff are so friendly and helpful; they even celebrated my 80th birthday with me with a cake and flowers”

Having recently celebrated its 60th anniversary in the UAE, the enhanced Spinneys experience is part of the retailer’s vision to always innovate and remain ahead of industry trends and customer needs. Spinneys operates 65 stores across the UAE, all of which differ in their product range and core customer base.

Spinneys staff proudly offer a personalised service for all, and the company is committed to responding to customer demand from each of its stores. As a result of the brand’s efforts, Sunil Kumar has been recognised as a regional retail icon by Retail ME and last year, the brand was awarded BBC Good Food Middle East’s Grocery Retailer of the Year.

Spinneys King Faisal Road store is open 7 days a week from 7am – 11.30pm. Shoppers can now park at the newly built car park off King Faisal Street.

About Spinneys:

Spinneys’ story started in 1961 when the first supermarket opened in Al Nasr Square. It has since grown to be one of the most favourited premium supermarket retailers in the region, with 61 stores across the UAE.  Much loved by expats and locals in the region, Spinneys enjoys a well-deserved reputation for forward thinking, keeping pace with changes in cooking trends and the emergence of new products worldwide.  Today, Spinneys Dubai, owned by UAE national Mr Ali Albwardy, has built a strong name for supplying top quality produce and offering a high level of customer service. Yet food standards, safety and freshness have always been at the forefront of the company’s ethos – just one reason why the Spinneys brand is defined as ‘The fresher experience’.
