The award-winning Mowgli Mentoring is featured in the recently published Sage Handbook of Mentoring. The book provides a scholarly, comprehensive and critical overview of mentoring theory, research and practices from across the world.   Mowgli Mentoring features as an expert after having delivered over 90 mentoring programs in 15 Middle East and African countries which have trained more than a 1,000 mentors, who have supported entrepreneurs from all sectors. They create and safeguard jobs, producing a significant economic as well as social return on investment. As a recognised leader in the field of mentoring, the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) accredited Mowgli’s mentoring syllabus with the European Quality Award in 2016.

The Mowgli Mentoring chapter aptly named Mentoring to Empower Entrepreneurial and Economic Development is authored by Mowgli’s CEO Kathleen Bury and COO Amanda Edwards and delves into various aspects of mentoring ranging from the role of mentoring in entrepreneurship to the far-reaching economic and social impact achieved through entrepreneurial mentoring by showcasing Mowgli’s proven impact to date. More on this can be viewed in their latest Impact Report. Mowgli also gets under the skin of delivering an effective mentoring programme by not only highlighting the challenges, but sharing learning nuggets drawn from the organisation’s vast experience in providing a practical, structured and guided service that empowers entrepreneurs to unlock their potential, overcome challenges, seize new opportunities and build successful businesses.

Commenting on their Sage publication, Mowgli CEO Kathleen Bury stated, “We are honoured to be a key contributor in this carefully crafted book, which is in essence a form of recognition of the impact of entrepreneurial mentoring and of the expertise that Mowgli bears in developing human capacity through our accredited programs which are focused on entrepreneurs as well as women and youth”.

About Mowgli Mentoring
Mowgli Mentoring is a not-for-profit organisation driving inclusive economic and social change in the Middle East and Africa. Our unique, award-winning methodology provides a supportive framework which empowers entrepreneurs, women and youth to unlock their potential and seize new opportunities.

Over the past decade Mowgli has worked with philanthropists, and local and international governmental and private sector partners to provide mentoring across 14 countries in the Middle East and North Africa.  We have trained more than a thousand mentors who have supported entrepreneurs from all sectors. They create and safeguard jobs, producing a significant economic and social return on investment. We are now also expanding our operations across Africa, and in addition to remaining focused on entrepreneurs, we will have an increased focus on women and youth as key additional beneficiaries of our programmes.

Mowgli Mentoring’s methodology supports long-term professional and personal development. Our volunteer mentors are trained to listen, guide and inspire. Mentors themselves testify as to how the mentoring process also helps their own development. We systematically match mentors with mentees, and provide structured support as they co-develop long-term, trust-based relationships. Our approach is a practical and sustainable way of developing human capital to the benefit of the whole community.

As a recognised leader in the field of mentoring, we were awarded the European Quality Award by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council in 2016 for our programme syllabus.

Mowgli’s specific mentoring programs provide a day-to-day lifeline for entrepreneurs striving to grow their businesses. In particular they underpin private-sector-driven economic growth and job-creation.  Our programs help women and young people to develop the leadership skills necessary to help their societies prosper. Mentoring is essential for sustainable human capital development.
