Dubai: The Italian Trade Agency (ITA), in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy to the United Arab Emirates and the Employers’ Association for Italian engineering, architectural and technical economic consulting organisations (OICE), is proud to be featuring 24 Italian companies in its largest ever presence at the Airport Show Hybrid+ 2021.

Operating under a hybrid format at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), 11 of the exhibiting Italian companies will be found in the Italian Pavilion. Overall, the international fair will host 90 exhibitors from seven different countries (UAE, Germany, Holland, UK, Switzerland, France and Italy), feature around 70 buyers from across Africa and the Middle East, and is expected to welcome more than 3,500 visitors.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, President of Dubai Airports, President and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, the Airport Show Hybrid+ is renowned as the main international exhibition for airport development. Running from May 24 to 26, the Airport Show Hybrid+ provides the ideal platform for Italian technology companies to develop their presence in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, showcase their expertise in airport technology and related services, and form connections with key decision makers in the GCC. Spanning a space of 60 sqm, the Italian Pavilion will feature multi-media installations from major enterprises such as Artelia Italia, 3TI Progetti, ADR Ingegneria, F&M, Integra AES, Rina Consulting, Seingim, Technital, VDP, YouandTech and Venetian start-up Kemanji, all of whom have chosen to physically attend the event, despite the travel complications induced by the pandemic.

H.E. Nicola Lener, Italian Ambassador for the United Arab Emirates, commented: “The partnership established between the OICE and ICE at the Airport Show Hybrid+ 2021 further confirms how vital internationalisation is within the engineering, architecture and technical-economic consultancy. As a highly strategic sector, it completely directs and activates the entire Italian chain of infrastructures and related services. Therefore, for both the OICE and its associated companies, I am certain that participating in the Airport Show Hybrid+ 2021 will be a valuable opportunity to discover more about infrastructure projects in the UAE airport sector and the wider area (including the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia), enhance Italy’s technological abilities and foster useful contacts for business development. The UAE’s Italian Embassy, the Consulate General in Dubai and the Dubai offices of ICE and SACE are proud to support OICE in this project.”

Speaking from the Italian Pavilion, Amedeo Scarpa, ICE Director, Dubai said: “The fact that trade fairs have resumed, and that Italy has more exhibitors than any other country this week, is an immensely important sign. The construction and infrastructure sectors have always played a fundamental part in Dubai’s market, and the UAE’s. Across the public and private sector, there are over 30,000 active projects, and as the country has already launched into its post-pandemic phase, it’s an honour to initiate direct channels of communication with Emirati contractors and foster collaborations with Italian companies, including small and medium-sized ones in the fields of design, engineering, construction and software services, that are connected to activation and operation airport hubs in the UAE. Working with the vital support of our Embassy and the Consulate General, the ICE is hoping to reactivate these business channels.”

Finally, Vice President of the OICE, Roberto Carpaneto, noted: "We are delighted to share our deep knowledge of the airport sector and highlight Italy’s engineering, architecture and consulting talents. OICE companies have combined their various skills to improve airports throughout Italy and the rest of the world. Including OICE companies in this week’s conferences will demonstrate why innovation, digitalisation and sustainability are key to our future development.

The event will also feature enterprises that come under the newly formed Association of Airtech.
