Under the patronage of HE Dr. Hamood Khalfan Al Harthi, Undersecretary of Education & Curriculum of the Ministry of Education and in the presence of Dr. Mansoor Al Touqi, Chairman of the Oman Paralympic Committee, the team commenced its sporting activities by organizing the fifth Oman Para Athletics Meet 2020.

The Meet witnessed participation of over 80 Para Athletes from across Oman in a number of competitive sports including long jump, shot put, javelin throw, discus throw, mace throw, a 100m race and 200m race. Winners were felicitated with prizes and medals at the conclusion of the event.

Commenting on the athletes and their performance, Nailesh Khimji, Director of Khimji Ramdas said, “We are amazed with the skill of each athlete participating and extremely proud to be associated with the Oman Paralympic Committee. This meet marks Eshraqa’s commitment towards the communities within which it works. We will always invest in our people and their goals.”

Dr. Mansoor Al Toqi, Chairman of Oman Paralympic Committee said, “The meet witnessed strong participation from Para Athletes across various Wilayats of the Sultanate. The event was extremely successful. I am proud to announce that new records have been set and more importantly, we have seen new fresh talent participate for the first time in the meet. This further indicates that these meets are allowing differently-abled people to spread their wings. This sporting event would not have succeeded without Eshraqa’s momentous, regular support which has given us the ability to organize high quality events for the differently abled people. We look forward to develop this event and receive athletes from outside Oman next year”.

Since inception, Eshraqa stands committed towards events and activities that further the Omani society towards success and prosperity. With a firm belief in people power, Eshraqa continues to work with service organisations to support development within the community. It also provides a variety of health and community wellbeing initiatives; internship opportunities for students; international scholarship programs; along with vocational and entrepreneurial programs.
