• Carrefour introduces a contactless, robotised and refrigerated service that can fulfil hundreds of orders per day, operating 24 hours a day.
  • Customers can order groceries online before 4pm and pick up their order on the same day

Dubai, UAE: Carrefour, operated in the UAE by Majid Al Futtaim, has expanded its offering to the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) community while introducing new innovative technology to the region. Visitors to Gate Avenue at DIFC will now have access to Carrefour’s unbeatable offers at its latest store and enjoy the flexibility of shopping through the automated Click & Collect Self-Service. The new service will dispense online grocery orders to customers through a dedicated robot, providing a convenient alternative to online deliveries.

Customers in DIFC can now order online via the Carrefour app or website and choose to collect their order through Click & Collect Self-Service. Once the order is placed, customers will receive a QR code to use at the robot placed at Gate Avenue’s parking area to collect their orders.

Hani Weiss, Chief Executive Officer at Majid Al Futtaim Retail, said, “We are excited to expand our offering and high-quality products to the DIFC community, while introducing a new innovation that will cater to the busy and fast paced lifestyle at one of the leading business hubs in Dubai. I would like to thank our partners at DIFC for giving us the chance to be part of their community, where we can promise a unique shopping experience for everyone, whether at the store or via the Click & Collect Self Service.”

Saleh Al Akrabi, Chief Executive Officer, DIFC Property Management, added: “We are proud to secure one of Dubai’s most established brands to Gate Avenue. We are especially pleased because Carrefour has chosen Gate Avenue to introduce new technology which will provide convenience to DIFC’s busy workforce. Carrefour is joining other leading retailers who recognise the value of opening in Dubai’s most central business and lifestyle destination. This new retail lease reinforces our commitment to provide convenience and choice for residents, visitors and people who work in the area.”

The new service has a dedicated parking area near the robot to allow customers to park easily while collecting their orders. The automated service is contactless, refrigerated, and is a step beyond Carrefour expanding its Click & Collect offering. The robotised service can fulfil hundreds of orders per day, operating 24 hours a day.

The addition of Carrefour supports DIFC and Gate Avenue’s reputation for bringing together business, retail and lifestyle brands. With 91% of DIFC’s prime retail space occupied by almost 300 leading lifestyle, art, fashion and food & beverage brands, the addition of Carrefour will be a welcome addition to Gate Avenue.
