Manama, Bahrain: The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) concluded its participation in the World Travel Market (WTM), which was held in the United Kingdom from the 5th to 7th of November 2018. This comes in line with BTEA’s efforts to showcase the Kingdom internationally and strengthen its position on the world tourism map as an attractive tourist destination.

Various representatives from the Bahrain Economic Development Board, the national carrier Gulf Air, and leading hotels and destination management companies from the Kingdom were present at the BTEA’s pavilion at the WTM.

During the event, Bahrain showcased its rich cultural heritage, vibrant tourism landscape and 28 new properties which are set to open by 2021, providing visitors with various accommodation options.

BTEA also hosted Vincenzo Nibali, the world class cyclist and team member of Bahrain–Merida Pro Cycling Team, and UCI World Team, who promoted the upcoming Bahrain Ironman which will be held in December 2018.

The event will gather representatives from travel and technology industry and companies in the private sector to discuss investment and business opportunities for the upcoming year, allowing them to exchange knowledge and experiences to push this sector forward.

BTEA’s participation comes in line with its long term strategy to further develop the Kingdom’s tourism sector and strengthen its position on a regional and international level under the slogan of ‘Ours.Yours.’, which contributes towards the Kingdom’s economy and the 2030 Economic Vision.

“We are delighted to have participated in the World Travel Market, a leading platform which attracts representatives from the travel and tourism industry, where we had the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the tourism industry globally,” said the Chief Executive Officer of BTEA, H.E. sheikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa.

“The BTEA seeks to participate in various regional and international exhibitions and events, which is an excellent opportunity to meet with other the largest companies operating in the tourism sector and engage with industry decision makers,” he added.

“Through our participation, we aim to raise awareness of Bahrain’s appeal as an ideal tourist destination and increase the numbers of international tourists coming into Bahrain, further driving the development of the Kingdom’s tourism sector and increasing its contribution to the national economy,” said the Director of Tourism Marketing and Promotions at BTEA, Mr. Yousef Al Khan.

This participation comes in with the BTEA’s efforts to promote the Kingdom of Bahrain and position it at the forefront of tourist destinations, also developing its tourism sector and shifting this vibrant sector to be one of the main contributors to the national economy and the Kingdom’s 2030 Economic Vision.

WTM is the leading global event for the travel industry to meet industry professionals and conduct business deals, bringing together 51,000 global travel trade professionals under one roof to find new contacts, discuss business and share knowledge to move the industry forward.
