His Excellency Eng. Mohsin Mohamed Al-Shaikh, Honourable Chairman of Muscat Municipality will be inaugurating the 2nd edition of the Drainage Rehabilitation & Wastewater Management conference on 7th September 2015 at the InterContinental Muscat. Established as Oman's largest gathering of drainage, wastewater and flood control specialists the conference is officially endorsed and supported by the Ministry of Regional Municipalities & Water Resources (MRMWR) and Muscat Municipality. The high profile event, partnered by the National Survey Authority (Ministry of Defence) and hosted by Haya Water and Global Exhibitions & Conferences LLC, will continue to deliver high level presentations, new technologies and solutions for the advancement of storm and wastewater management. 

His Excellency was quoted saying "Waste Water Systems Development is one of the key areas that the government is focusing at present. I am confident that Drainage Rehabilitation & Wastewater Management 2015 will serve as an effective arena for the exchange of information, experiences and expertise that will help strengthen our domestic industry."

The conference will cover the main theme - "Overcoming the water floods through efficient drainage networks and maintaining a sustainable wastewater system across the Sultanate". The conference will explore several sub-themes which include: Presenting the current drainage and wastewater infrastructure projects in the Sultanate, Designing, Constructing, Operating and Maintaining an effective sewerage and world class water reuse system networks in Oman, Understanding the wastewater reuse and its purposes, Discussing the role of GIS technology in evaluating and maintaining drainage systems / flooding, Learning from regional and international best practice case studies on implementing a sustainable drainage infrastructure, Analysing the different technologies/solutions for rehabilitating the current drainage infrastructure in the Sultanate, Understanding the latest flood control techniques and strategies in planning, maintaining flood protection systems, Avoiding flash floods by preventing runoffs through an efficient drainage system

The conference includes presentations from local authorities such as Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, Muscat Municipality, Haya Water, National Survey Authority - Ministry of Defence Oman, Ministry of Health and international authorities such as Environment Agency Abu Dhabi, Ajman Sewerage Private Company Limited (ASPCL), Alexandria Sanitary Drainage Company, General Water Authority, Ministry of Water Resources, Libya, Ras Al Khaimah Wastewater Authority & Public Works & Services Department, UNESCO Iranian National Committee on Irrigation and Drainage National Water Company - Saudi Arabia and many more.
