AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday stressed the importance of combining e-learning with in-person learning, to become a sustainable part of the educational system at schools.

At a teleconference follow-up meeting on the e-learning platform, the King urged continued development of the platform, taking into account feedback from students, teachers and parents, according to a Royal Court statement.

His Majesty urged ensuring that e-learning infrastructure is provided across Jordan, to enable students to access the platform.

During the meeting, attended by Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, Education Minister Tayseer Neuimi presented the plan for the latest version of national e-learning platform Darsak, which includes an update on educational content, software updates, and additional tools to improve the learning experience.

Minister Nueimi said the Ministry of Education has devised a plan to reach students, estimated at 16 per cent, who had not been able to access the platform, by providing them with computers, the statement said.

The meeting also covered the features and tools included in the updated Darsak platform, such as enabling student-teacher interaction and adding a voice-to-text feature.

Lessons for the first semester have been completed, and they include interactive animations, and the participation of teachers from various schools. Some 6,200 videos have been recorded so far by more than 123 teachers, according to the statement.
