AMMAN — The Jordan Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday called on the government to reconsider the Friday comprehensive curfews in light of the “high level” of commitment to public health and safety procedures and the lack of family trips and gatherings due to the start of winter.

In a statement, carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the chamber said that Friday curfews resulted in additional damages to the commercial and service sectors, mainly restaurants, coffee shops and daily-wage workers.

The chamber also noted the majority of commercial and service institutions are committed to the procedures and should not be closed, such as coffee shops and gyms that employ thousands of young people, stressing, at the same time, the need to “enforce defence orders only on those who fail to adhere to regulations”.
