One Za'abeel, Dubai's new iconic mixed-use project coming up in Zabeel area, is running on schedule and will create approximately 3,000 jobs upon its completion, its developer Ithra Dubai said on Tuesday.
Costing over $1 billion, Ithra Dubai also announced the final lift of 230-metre long cantilever, called “The Link”, 100 metres above the ground level between One Za’abeel’s two towers. The Link qualifies One Za’abeel to attempt to break the Guinness World Records title for the “longest cantilevered building” in the world.
Issam Galadari, director and CEO of Ithra Dubai, said construction on the project has reached around 41st level and that it is progressing well, completing each floor in five to six days.
“By April 2021, we will have the top-up ceremony and finish the structure. This will be another milestone,” he said, adding that the hotel will have workforce of at least 1,500 people and in total, 3,000 jobs will be created at the project alone.
The mixed-used project will house offices, residential apartment, commercial units and a 497-key hotel to be operated by One & Only Resorts. The project will be completed in stages starting in the fourth quarter of 2021.
Galadari said the completion of The Link at One Za’abeel is the sum of effort, imagination, collaboration and the desire to create a meaningful and timeless contribution to Dubai.
The lift of The Link was operated in two phases, the first of which took place in September when the first structure of The Link measuring 192 meters was lifted 100 meters above ground level. It was carried out over 12 days in one of the heaviest lifting operations in the region, weighing over 8,500 tons.
The final lift joined the cantilevered structure with the first section of The Link and was executed over the course of four days. More than 55 jacks and strand jacks, and 12.2 Km of strands were required to lift this final portion weighing over 900 tons.
