Dubai, UAE: Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organises the ‘Risk & Resilience Conference 2018’ under the theme ‘Enlightening Today’s Unknowns for Tomorrow’. The conference, on 16 December 2018, is organised in partnership with Ernst & Young.

DEWA organises the conference for the fourth time as part of its efforts to keep up with the latest global approaches to risk preparedness and response, as well as resilience in dealing with changes. A number of international experts in risk management and resilience will speak in the conference. These include Michio Kaku, an American theoretical physicist; Mark Gallagher, a motivational speaker in car racing; David Coulthard, a Formula 1 champion; and other international speakers.

"Risk management and resilience are key factors in enhancing the ability of government and private organisations to keep pace with the rapid developments in the business environment. It is important to develop pre-emptive plans and strategies to anticipate and deal with crises. This ensures business continuity and the flexible handling of challenges and changes in the economic, social, and technical areas, especially in the face of threats that are increasing in size with the technological development and rapid growth in smart transformation. The Risk & Resilience Conference, which DEWA is organising for the fourth time, will highlight the best practices in this area, the latest developments in the resilience landscape and their impact on organisations as well as how technology can be used as an enabler for success," said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

Al Tayer noted that DEWA is committed to sharing its expertise with all partners and stakeholders from the government and private sectors. This ensures improving work performance and planning to achieve strategic objectives, to achieve the highest levels of excellence and quality, and harness capabilities to develop government work and improve its outcome to serve the people, and make them happier.

Lectures and panel discussions during the conference cover different topics. These include: ‘Futuristic Data Technology and its Impact on Risk Management Strategies and Professionals,’ ‘Formula 1 Approach to Risk Management and Strategy Development,’ ‘Risk Management in Real Time during Races,’ and ‘The Future of Resilience - Building Strategic Capabilities to Thrive in the Disruption Era.’
