JEDDAH — Saleh Al-Turki, mayor of Jeddah governorate, launched on Saturday Al-Nawras Island development project, which includes walkaways and a women-only beach.

The Fakieh Hospitality and Leisure Group will develop the project as part of the Cities Humanization Initiative of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

This initiative is aimed to contribute to improving the Quality of Life in Jeddah governorate by raising the per capita share of green spaces and recreational areas in addition to increasing the number of sports practitioners.

The idea of the project has been changed from hotel chalets that are operated by an international company, to a project and a tourist destination targeting all waterfront visitors including people of the city and visitors of Jeddah, where Nawras Island will be linked to the waterfront.

The project extends along Al-Nawras Island with a 200-meter and 25-meter wide walkway in both directions, overlooking many restaurants, cafes, as well as entertainment and artistic centers.

There will also be a cinema hall, a marina for boats and a private beach for women, in addition to a health club and a games area.

The project also includes multiple entertainment activities suitable for all segments of the society, representing all age groups.
