Dubai Holding and Meraas Urban Foods is expanding the footprint of French grocer Geant with the opening of the brand’s first full-fledged hypermarket in Dubai on Tuesday.

The new outlet, located in the Al Khawaneej Walk – Last Exit, is the first post-COVID Geant hypermarket to open in the UAE and has been designed to incorporate all the safety factors and function, with due safe distancing protocols, the company said in a statement.

It is the 11th outlet carrying the European brand, but the first hypermarket in the city, according to Mark Anthony Lack, CEO of Urban Foods, which also operates other French brands Monoprix and Franprix across communities in the UAE.

“The success of food track park Last Exit, coupled with the rapid growth and development we have seen in the Al Khawaneej area, including the opening of a world-class mall, made our decision to open in this new and exciting neighbourhood that much easier,” said Lack.

Last Exit owned by Meraas offers a food truck-inspired vibe.

The new hypermarket also features special areas designated for fashionwear, shoes, electronics, sporting goods, household items, household accessories, as well as health and beauty.
