Egypt - UK exploration and production company Energean plans to spend $235 million (EGP 3.69 billion) to develop the North Amriya and North Idku concessions in offshore Egypt, according to a statement.

The North Amriya concession contains the Yazzi and Python discovered gas fields, while North Idku has four gas fields including one ready for development, the statement says.

Both concessions are expected to deliver the first gas in the second half of 2022, with a capacity of 49 million barrels of oil equivalent.

Earlier in 2020, UK petroleum company bp commenced gas production from its latest development offshore Qattameya gas field in the North Damietta concession in Egypt.
