French consumer prices rose 3.1% year-on-year in February, slightly more than expected, preliminary data from statistics agency INSEE showed on Thursday.

Analysts in a Reuters poll had on average expected a preliminary EU-harmonized inflation figure of 3.0% for February.

Inflation slowed, however, from the 3.4% figure recorded for January, due to decelerating food, manufactured products and services prices, INSEE said. (Reporting by Olivier Sorgho; Editing by Toby Chopra)
