The Kremlin said on Friday that Russia's enemies view events such as Vladimir Putin's upcoming inauguration for a new presidential term as a pretext to try to destabilise the situation inside Russia.

"Attempts to interfere in our domestic affairs are not subsiding. Such things as the inauguration are always seen by our enemies as an excuse to destabilise the situation inside Russia," said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"We have learned to resist this together."
