The daily average of new COVID-19 cases nationwide jumped by 23 percent in the past week, according to the Department of Health.

DOH noted that from April 10 to 16, a total of 2,386 new COVID-19 cases were recorded nationwide.

'The number of average daily cases this week is 341, higher by 23 percent compared to cases from April 3 to 9,' the DOH disclosed.

Of the total new cases, DOH said 17 are severe and critical.

A total of 356 severe and critical COVID-19 cases are currently admitted to different hospitals.

The DOH also recorded 20 COVID-19 deaths, but all of them occurred between January 2021 to February 2022.

Only 12.3 percent of COVID-ICU beds and 17.4 percent of non-ICU COVID-19 beds are occupied at this time.

Amid rising COVID-19 cases, the DOH reminded the public to remain cautious and strictly observe minimum public health standards.
