OPEC member Iraq has approved a project to expand two towns within post-war reconstruction plans that include the building of several new cities, the official Al-Sabah newspaper said on Monday.

The Construction, Housing and Municipalities Ministry is also carrying out studies for the new designs of AL-Qosh town in the Northern Nineveh Governorate and Dujail in Saladin Province just north of the Capital Baghdad, the paper said.

The project involves the construction of new houses, road networks, infrastructure, services and other facilities, it added.

“The project is needed to face the increase in the population and create opportunities for investors in Iraq,” the paper said, quoting a Ministry official.
