The first phase of development of a key junction is projected to be completed next month.
The Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry yesterday said that the project’s facelift covers an area of 50,000sqm.
Under-Secretary Dr Nabeel Abu Al Fateh hopes that the development and landscaping of the Al Farooq Junction will be completed mid next month as he toured the junction to inspect the project’s process.
Dr Abu Al Fateh toured the site along with Capital Trustees Authority director general Shawqiya Humaidan and Joint Municipal Services assistant under-secretary Wael Mubarak and ministry engineers.
Dr Abu Al Fateh revealed that the municipality technicians would receive training to ensure the latest technologies were used for the greening and landscaping along with reducing water consumption and costs while maintaining quality.
“The landscaping and beautification started in the first phase at north of the intersection of the region in April 2018 and continued for four months,” said Dr Abu Al Fateh.
The statement also said that the area allocated for the facelift amounted to 50,000sqm after the addition of about 10,000 sqm planted with palm trees and seasonal flowers.
He also added that the municipalities are in the process of issuing a tender for the second phase of the south side of the intersection at 13,000sqm, reaching a final developed area of 63,000sqm.
