Doha, 31 March 2011: W Doha Hotel & Residences has pledged last weekend's takings of Doha's most popular eaterie, Market, together with the revenue from sushi sales to the UNICEF Fund for Japan victims of the recent earthquake disaster. 

Safak Guvenc, General Manager of W Doha met with H.E. Kenjiro Monji, Ambassador of Japan in the state of Qatar, to hand over W Doha's cheque of QR 80,000 for the UNICEF Fund for Japan.

On Wednesday, 30th March the Japanese Ladies Group in Doha will hold a meeting in the Great Room at W Hotel Doha and W Doha has pledged 100 cupcakes and cookies, to be sold at the event in aid of the Japanese earthquake and Tsunami victims.

W Talents have been so moved by W Doha's donation to Japan earthquake victims that they are organizing their own fund-raising initiative to support  Starwood Talents in Japan affected by the disaster.  Plans are to stage a Charity Walk along the Corniche on Sunday, 3 April.

Edgar Vaudeville, PR and Events Manager, W Doha, commented: "It's amazing to see most of our talents giving their time and such support for their Starwood colleagues in Japan.  Everyone on the walk will be giving a personal donation to Starwood Charity for Japan."

W Doha's outreach response to help those affected by these natural disasters response is part of the hotel's wider CSR awareness, as demonstrated by its Earthhour initiative last weekend, highlighting the need to save and conserve the earth's resources.
