Performance is a valuable index on the up-to-date educational standards of the institution
Dubai, UAE: University of Dubai (UD), a prestigious academic institution established by Dubai Chamber, has always been known to adopt and implement the latest strategies to enable its students to be well rounded and top professionals in the market. One such example is a business simulation game in the Capstone course (also known as Strategic Management) which the university had introduced in the fall semester of 2004. Its team recently clinched the top 4% of scores from 2,551 eligible teams participating worldwide. Every semester, over 350 leading international universities participate in this business simulation game.
The Capstone course is part of the University of Dubai's (UD) BBA program requirements in which graduating students have to take part. It is a highly challenging and interesting game that tests the knowledge imbibed and assimilated by the students. They have found this business simulation game to be an immensely rewarding exercise that contributes significantly to their career development.
Dr M. Omar Hefni, the President of University of Dubai stated, "We are very proud of our students' performance in the Capstone course. It allows them to apply what they have learnt in core business courses in an internationally competitive arena and gives them excellent hands-on experience. It is also a valuable index as to how up-to-date is the knowledge we impart to our students. We are also very happy to state that both the business sector and industry in general have been greatly impressed by the performance and achievements of the students in this course."
In this business simulation game, the university's students undertake to manage a "production company strategically" and where they have plants to operate, a workforce to manage, inventories to control, accounting and cost data to examine, capital expenditure decisions to make, marketing and sales campaigns to implement and fluctuations in the stock market to consider. In short, the game replicates the real world challenges of running a business organization in every aspect.
