Dubai, October 5, 2013
The University of Dubai (UD) has been specifically selected by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) to provide Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programs for Government employees from 46 Federal Agencies within its Center for Executive Development. Employees will be able to benefit from lower fees for the Universitys internationally accredited bachelor and master programs. The agreement will also provide a series of job placements and internship opportunities for University of Dubai students within the relevant Government departments.
In the presence of The Minister of Education and Chairman of FAHR, His Excellency Humaid Al Qatami, The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by His Excellency Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Awar, Director General of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, and Dr. Eesa Bastaki, President of the University of Dubai, at a ceremony which took place on October 3, 2013 in Dubai.
Under this agreement, FAHR will work closely with the University and its Center for Executive Development (CED) to develop programs which will optimize the skill sets of Government employees within leadership, management, finance and accounting, and human resources. All courses are in line with internationally recognized education quality standards as the University of Dubais College of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computing and Information Systems is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (CAC-ABET).
University of Dubai students given opportunities for internships within 46 ministries and federal entities to help them develop skills in management, accounting and finance, human resources, general admin, marketing, IT, and soft skills such as leadership. In return, government employees looking to enhance their own skill set will be able to take advantage of a 20% discount on internationally accredited executive training programs, bachelor and master degree programs in Business and Information Technology through the University of Dubai.
University of Dubai President Dr. Eesa Bastaki thanked FAHR for the chance to work with them as part of this mutually beneficial relationship and said: The University of Dubai was established by Dubai Chamber in 1997 with the mission to provide quality higher education and executive development training while FAHR aims to provide the very best skills development for Government. The mutual interests shared by both parties forms the basis for a far reaching partnership which will bring benefits to both sides. Government employees keen to improve their skill sets will have flexible access to our renowned Executive Development programs while our students will benefit from access to work placements that will materially enhance their understanding of business and administration. The University of Dubai has built its reputation through knowledge and innovation and we proudly continue to do so through this partnership with the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources.
In addition to academic programs, the agreement allows the University to conduct research for ministries and federal government entities, as it has previously done for private companies, and UD students will be have the opportunity to attend events with guest speakers within the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources. The Universitys highly quality programs, strong affiliation with Dubai Chamber and close ties to the business community make it an ideal preferred knowledge partner.
