May 21, 2009, United Arab Emirates, Dubai - United Arab Shipping Company (UASC). The Board of Directors of UASC announced during its meeting on May 21, 2009, the designation of Mr. Jorn Hinge as the new President and Chief Executive Officer for the Company, Mr. Waleed Al Dawood currently Chief Technical Officer of UASC was designated as the new Chief Operating Officer and Mr. Basil Al Zaid, in addition to his current designation as Chief Financial Officer, will equally assume the responsibilities of the former Chief Technical Officer. All three designations are effective May 21, 2009.

This new designations announcement comes after the departure of former President and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Ken Bloch Soerensen, following the completion of his term of 4 years contract with the Company.

Jorn Hinge is a veteran and accomplished shipping professional who brings along to this position broad leadership and wealth of over 30 years experience in the shipping industry, 15 out of which spent with UASC as its Chief Operating Officer, since 1994.

Waleed Al Dawood is a long standing member of UASC, he boasts 28 years of professional experience in the Shipping industry. Waleed had joined UASC back in 1981, and since, has been building a well rounded experience in the different functions of the Company.  

Basil Al Zaid joined UASC back in January 2001 and has brought along total dynamism into the Financial functions of the Company. Basil has over 23 years of Managerial experience in Corporate Finance, Treasury and International Investments.

Commenting on the appointment, Sheikh Ali Bin Jassim Al-Thani, UASC's Chairman, said:
