Amman - Umniah announced its strategic partnership with the Interactive Electronic Gaming Laboratory that was recently established under a royal initiative and inaugurated by His Majesty King Abdullah II on the sidelines of the first Jordan-US Business Forum.
Umniah's partnership with the Interactive Electronic Gaming Laboratory stems from its belonging to youth, technology and innovation, and comes as part of its support of various initiatives aimed at advancing and enriching content development in line with the latest international advances. Moreover, the partnership reflects Umniah's ongoing efforts to facilitate the success of young designers and developers of electronic and digital games, particularly students, and motivate them to unleash their creativity.
The Laboratory - established by the King Abdullah II Fund for Development - will offer workshops on electronic game design, storyboards, character design, motion graphics, scenarios, game interface design, music and audio effects creation, and video game design. The Lab will also present the latest technologies and practices in the global electronic gaming industry.
"Umniah partnered with the gaming laboratory in light of the Lab's important role as the Kingdom's premier incubator for the innovations of Jordan's youth, and reflects our goal to enhance their professional and technical capabilities. The partnership corresponds with Umniah's belief in the importance of promoting ingenuity and competition at an international level, which would transform Jordan into an e-ready regional hub for content development," said Ihab Hinnawi, CEO of Umniah.
In turn, Nour Khrais, Chairman of the Jordan Gaming Task Force, commented, "The Gaming Lab has formed important strategic partnerships with international and national companies like Sony, Unity, Nokia, Samsung, Microsoft and Umniah to help create an ecosystem that encourages the establishment of a strong gaming industry in Jordan."
Khrais added, "Mobile and online gaming are among the most important aspects of game development that we undertake at the Lab. Umniah will help us through its young, dynamic online and mobile network to deliver products quickly, giving our developers marketing advantage and revenue share preferences."
Under its strategic partnership, Umniah will offer handset testing and provide the gaming laboratory with wireless Umax Internet services.
It is worth noting that Umniah is the first telecom operator in the Kingdom to launch the Umniah Mobile Application Development Initiative, which reflects its dedication to supporting ambitious, talented young mobile applications developers, and providing them with the opportunity to express their ideas. Umniah is committed to providing them with the facilities needed to transform their ideas and goals into reality, as Umniah will market their mobile applications through a promotional campaign in order to help them bring in revenues and empower them socioeconomically, and promote the applications in the global and Arab markets, which is in line with the Company's vision of helping position Jordan as a regional ICT hub.
