TNT Express, the world's leading B2B express delivery company, has delivered 10 tonnes of Sony broadcasting equipment to Showtime Arabia, the leading Pay TV network in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region, in a record time of less than seven hours.
The delivery to Showtime's regional headquarters in Dubai Media City was managed through TNT's Special Services department, which offers tailor-made flexible solutions to unusual customer needs, with no size or weight restrictions, anywhere in the world.
"This is the second time Sony Professional Solutions has called TNT Special Services to undertake the difficult task of delivering equipment, which includes servers, furniture, cabling and other media apparatus, to the studio," said Dirosh Amarasinghe, Product Manager, Special Services.
"The large, heavy and expensive equipment was delivered using a specially contracted telescopic forklift, through a window on the first floor, as no other entrance could accommodate the dimensions of the consignment."
With four departments - Time Critical, Freight, Special Handling, Storapart and Distribution, TNT Special Services is becoming a tool increasingly utilised by its clients, delivering any consignment, anywhere, anytime, whether it be Christmas, Eid or New Year.
"Sony Professional Solutions often requires express shipping and delivery services that cannot be provided by standard air, road and sea networks," said Ms. Manal Kadri, Supply Chain Manager, Sony Professional Solutions Middle East .
"The latest delivery took nearly a third of the time it took previously, which shows us that TNT Special Services is striving to set new industry standards in efficiency."
TNT is the only company that has a dedicated special services team at every office in its entire global network.
"Since the Gulf launch of TNT Special Services in 2004, it has become the company's fastest growing service with a two-fold increase in business," added Amarasinghe.
