- The Bacteriological Genetic Test will allow to detect the periodontal bacteria’s DNA being able to identify its different types to prevent and to approach with more effective treatments diseases like gingivitis, periodontitis and even halitosis
Madrid. VITALDENT, a leading group in the oral health sector, has signed an agreement with Spiral, a company specialized in genetic analysis and technology, to distribute the Bacteriological Genetic Test and the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) genetic analysis in all its clinics. On the occasion of VITALDENT's 30th anniversary, Dr. Gustavo Camañas, VITALDENT's Medical Director, presented to his professionals’ network this latest innovation that allows, besides detecting the DNA of periodontal bacteria, to prevent diseases such as gingivitis or periodontitis. Spiral´s Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) genetic analysis detects the presence of the most frequent high and low risk subtypes.
Dr. Gustavo Camañas stated during the annual convention that "one of the most common oral health problems in the population is periodontal diseases or infections, those that damage the gums or the bone that supports them. A condition that, if not treated properly, can lead to the loss of teeth and even affect the health system. Numerous studies have linked periodontal diseases to heart disease, diabetes and even Alzheimer's disease”.
Thus, thanks to this new painless test, VITALDENT’s professionals can identify, classify and quantify the 16 most involved periodontal bacteria in the appearance of periodontal disease through the study of the bacteria’s DNA. Therefore as a result of this Bacteriological Test, it is possible to identify the types of bacteria present in the patient's mouth, their quantity, as well as, recommend the best medications for the most favourable result. Additionally it is also possible to genetically detect these bacteria and predict whether the patient is infected before he or she even develops the disease, especially in patients with a genetic history of pyorrhea.
Furthermore, beyond periodontal diseases such as gingivitis and periodontitis, patients suffering from halitosis can also benefit from the advantages offered by this test.
In the words of Francisco Tercero-Mora, Spiral’s CEO, "This collaboration guarantees, thanks to the six years of experience that Spiral has and being one of the main companies in genetic analysis and technology, that all VITALDENT’s clinics can provide their patients with the highest quality and safety when it comes to testing, as well as helping save lives and introducing medicine into the Oral Health sector”.
VITALDENT thus continues to work on its commitment to research and innovation in all its processes, products and treatments, and begins its journey towards microgenetic dentistry with the aim of achieving dental excellence for the benefit of its patients.
