Muscat, Oman, 14 December 2015 - Organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the 5th Edition of the SPE EOR Conference at OGWA will be held at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Muscat, from 21-23 March 2016. While the foundation of this internationally-recognised conference is Enhanced Oil Recovery, each year the executive committee selects a theme in line with the current market situation, this year's theme being "The EOR Paradigm Shift."

The opening ceremony on Monday, 21 March 2016 will feature remarks by Dr. Saleh bin Ali Al Anboori, director general of management of petroleum investments, Ministry of Oil and Gas and conference chairman; Raoul Restucci, managing director, Petroleum Development Oman. The executive plenary session on the same day will center on the theme of the event, bringing to light factors influencing the EOR paradigm shift.

Programme co-chairs, Sultan S. Al Shidhani, study centre manager - USM at Petroleum Development Oman; Salim Al Salmy, reservoir characterisation manager Mukhaizna and chief petrophysicist, Occidental Mukhaizna, said, "SPE EOR Conference in Muscat is a very unique forum that provides s platform to share Enhanced Oil Recovery Experiences and developments from different parts of the world. This year though the market situation is very challenging, 431 abstracts, from 164 companies in 40 countries, were received exceeding all previous years. The technical programme committee has accepted 115 paper to be presented at the conference during 20 technical sessions along with a number of panel sessions. These selected papers bring knowledge and experiences from 49 companies spanning 21 different countries."

The conference programme includes the executive plenary session plus three panel sessions titled "EOR Collaboration Strategies", "EOR Operational Excellence" and "EOR Enablers", with speakers from ADCO, Baker Hughes, Schlumberger, Shell, Tatweer Petroleum, TOTAL, and several other well-known companies.

In conjunction with the conference, OGWA the region's largest Oil & Gas exhibition, organised by Oman Expo, will take place at the Oman International Exhibition Center with exhibitors showcasing solutions and technology for the effective advancement in the EOR field.
