Significant progress has been made on hiring and commissioning plans for the women-focused hospital in the Kingdom of Bahrain, keeping it on track for its opening in mid-2019

Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain: The Royal Hospital for Women (“RHW” or the “Hospital”) today announced the completion of a meeting of its Board of Directors. This was the first board meeting held since Amanat Holdings PJSC (“Amanat”) completed the acquisition of a majority stake of 69.3% in August 2018. RHW’s remaining incumbent shareholders comprise: (i) Osool Asset Management, a leading asset manager based in Bahrain and serving pension funds and institutional clients; and (ii) Overseas Investment SPC, one of Bahrain’s pre-eminent investment holding companies.

The board meeting was convened and chaired by His Excellency Hamad Abdulla Al Shamsi, and was attended by all company directors.

Hamad Abdulla Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Royal Hospital for Women, said: “The Royal Hospital for Women will be among the most advanced medical facilities, built to cater to the specialized healthcare needs of women. Underpinned by the progress made on hiring, solid infrastructure equipped with cutting-edge medical equipment and the support of our operating partner, the Hospital is on track to become the leading women’s healthcare facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and is in the final stages of appointing a leading multinational healthcare service provider as the operating partner for the Hospital. This partner will assist RHW in implementing pre-operational initiatives and managing operations”.

At the meeting, the Board of Directors stated that significant progress has been made in relation to hiring key clinical and management employees. It was noted that the commissioning plan is well underway and being executed to ensure that RHW can achieve its vision of being the pre-eminent center of excellence for women’s healthcare in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

To support a targeted opening in mid-2019, the board announced a number of strategic initiatives including (i) the establishment of a Steering Committee with direct responsibility for the pre-operational and opening activities of the Hospital, and (ii) continued cooperation with all key stakeholders of Bahrain’s healthcare landscape.

The Royal Hospital for Women will be a world-class hospital specialized in the provision of basic and advanced healthcare to women. The Hospital will offer a full range of clinical services to women, focusing on the provision of comprehensive maternity care and extending to gynecology, assisted reproductive treatment and reconstructive surgery as well as pre- and post-natal care.

Designed to provide comprehensive care to inpatients and outpatients, the Hospital’s state-of-the-art facilities will include advanced operating theatres, high dependency rooms, labour and delivery rooms as well as daycare/minor procedure rooms. The Hospital will also include the first and only Level–III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit among private hospitals in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
