Award was one of four accolades presented to the Bahrain property at the awards

Manama, KINGDOM OF BAHRAIN – March 19th, 2017 

The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain was presented with 5 awards at the Food and Travel Awards 2017 on February 22nd 2017.

A well-attended event, the awards was honored by his Excellency Mr. Zayed Al Zayani, Minister of Industry who presented the Breakthrough Chef of the Year 2017 to Cantina Kahlo’s chef de cuisine, Cesar de Leon Torres.  A young successful chef with 15 years’ experience in Miami USA, Uruguay and Spain, he brings a wealth of talent in authentic Mexican cuisine. The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain won with four prestigious awards at the Food and Travel Awards 2017.

Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa, Chief Executive of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority presented the coveted Best Resort Award 2017 to Ritz-Carlton Bahrain’s General Manager, Jean-Paul Dantil; Executive Manager Sales & Marketing, Soufiane El Allam; and Executive Manager Rooms, Hermes Cuello.

Primavera Trattoria Moderna Two Michelin Star Chef Oliver Glowig won the International Chef of the Year 2017. A German national, Oliver is an Italian Chef who started his culinary career in Germany where he received his first Michelin Star at the Acquarello restaurant in Munich. Shortly after, Oliver’s Michelin Star status was credited once again as he was awarded with the second Michelin Star and received 17/20 points from the Espresso Guide. His passion for Italian cuisine transpires in his work and sat Primavera as an unprecedented benchmark in Bahrain culinary scene.

The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain also won the Best Family Restaurant Award 2017 for its Arabian-Mediterranean restaurant, La Plage. Located amongst pools and a white sandy beach, La Plage is a perfect family venue for those seeking the vibrant al fresco dining with stunning views of the Arabian Gulf, all complimented by a launched Mediterranean menu.

The fourth and final award was the Best Afternoon Tea Award 2017, which was handed to The Ritz Gourmet Lounge, a French Belle Époque-themed restaurant. The lounge is a popular, all-day venue which boasts rich velvet upholstery and Napoleon chairs, creating a stunning, classic Parisian ‘salon de thé’ (Tea Room).

The awards were held at the Intercontinental Regency hotel on February 22nd 2017.
