Riyadh, 24 November 2008: Under the patronage of HRH Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah Bin Abdul-Aziz, Chairman of The National Entrepreneurship Center board of trustees, Global Entrepreneurship Week (17-23 November 2008) in the Kingdom, that was originally organized by The National Entrepreneurship Center, an initiative of The Centennial Fund, closed with a ceremony prize giving and celebration
The Celebration day honored everyone who participated in the activities of the week from the main cities in the Kingdom; Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. Participants from various social sectors: business, economic, education and civil society, played a major role in enriching the overall experience with their innovative visions and thoughts.
The Deputy Governor of the Saudi Monetary Agency and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Centennial Fund, Dr. Mohammed Bin Suleiman Al Jasser, honored the participants with trophies; KFUPM, AOU, Imam Mohammed Bin Saud University, Dar Al Hekma College, Council of Saudi Chambers, Sharqiah Chamber of Commerce, Zain, and the Seventy-fifth Highschool for girls.
His deputy also honored Eng. Khaled Bin Abdullah Al Barazi and Khaled Bin Ibrahim Al Khattaf, members of the Events Organizing Committee for the week; he thanked them for their efforts in making the week a big success and gave each a certificate of appreciation signed by HRH Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah Bin Abdul-Aziz.
In the speech that Dr. Mohammed Bin Suleiman Al Jasser gave on HRH's behalf at the celebration opening, he stressed the importance of the experience and praised its role in setting new foundations of the entrepreneurship as a lifestyle and as a business to ambitious Saudis from all social levels, and of all ages.
Global Entrepreneurship Week took place in more than 68 countries around the world and was hosted in The Kingdom for the first time by The National Entrepreneurship Center, an initiative of The Centennial Fund.
Hesham Tashkandi, general manager of The Centennial Fund and a member of the board, presented the results achieved during The Global Entrepreneurship week in the Kingdom. He commented: "The Global Entrepreneurship Week activities proved our society's commitment to inspiring a mentality of
entrepreneurship, particularly within the robust development that the Saudi economy is undergoing now".
Mr. Tashkandi emphasized the launch of Global Entrepreneurship Week in the Kingdom as part of the overall direction of His Royal Highness, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, in setting new challenging standards for the Saudi economy and in providing businessmen and entrepreneurs with the motivating to keep the national economy in line with other global and regional economies, an atmosphere that will depend on the youth, and satisfy their ambition and vision.
Mr. Hesham Tashkandi announced The National Entrepreneurship Center's commitment to making this event happen every year, as it is an undoubted benefit to the nation.
The activities are under a global umbrella yet are localized to serve the Saudi business society's goals and objectives; and furthermore they represent a genuine chance for all young entrepreneurs, to overcome their challenges, through interaction and direct communication with business leaders of the Saudi industry in the lectures and workshops.
The National Entrepreneurship Center is committed to sustaining its objectives as it strongly believes that the spirited entrepreneurship should be spread in the Kingdom, on an ongoing basis.
