Dubai, May 3, 2007- The Department of Interior Design at the American University in Dubai held its annual Interior Design Senior Students' Showcase. This event which was attended by students, professors and professionals from the private practice, is becoming a 'melting pot' for emerging talents, new concepts, presentation techniques, materials and technologies.
Thirty eight students exhibited their work, while twenty eight of them presented their projects before a jury comprising renowned interior designers, such as Pekka P. Rautimo of CINMAR Design, H. Werner of WERK Consultants, Professor Mehdi Sabet of AUS, Professor Claude Berube of AUST, Maryam Al Omrani of Dubai Municipality, Rama Al Turkmani of KEO International Design and Charlotte Hollyoak of ATTITUDE Consultants, Brisbane.
The students' projects, which covered a wide range of building types, both on and offshore, included work by Dina Nosseir (Cultural Museum Library), Dariush Zarrjooee (Aquarium Island), Moemen Radwan (Museum of architecture), Joud Alanjari (Shebeeh Al Reeh), Delyar Bokharaie (Underground Club), Afra Bin Suloom (Yacht Design), Lida Sarvi Pyraivanlo (hr 25), Golnaz Fathi (Convention Hotel Design), Sherif Azmi (Dubai Metro), Nabil Dantato (Sport & Fitness Center), Noor Yousif (Grand Opera House), Fatheya AlSherif (El Teatro), Sherin Banizaman (Garden Of Utopia), Shahab Haji (Wax Museum), Reevathi Menon (Medical Center), and Atoosa Shafoleslami (Dubai Nuclear Center).
The event was concluded by an awards ceremony. Professor Nabyl Chenaf, Acting Chair of the Department of Interior Design at AUD,and Professor John Alexander Smith, Professor of Interior Design at AUD, presented the winners with their awards. Moemen Radwan bagged the first prize competition, followed by Dariush Zarrinjooee, as the first runner-up, and Sherif Azmi, as the second runner-up.
