Dubai, UAE, 22nd October 2008 His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai officially opened today with a ribbon cutting ceremony The City Hospital - the first multi-disciplinary hospital in Dubai Healthcare City.
The City Hospital, a 210 bed, technologically advanced multi-disciplinary hospital, offers sophisticated diagnostic facilities and specialised treatment in a wide range of medical disciplines to ensure that each patient receives the highest available standard of healthcare.
Mr. Sunny Varkey, Chairman of the Varkey Group, speaking at the opening commented; "We are delighted to be opening The City Hospital today. Offering expertise in a comprehensive range of medical disciplines, The City Hospital will provide patients with expertise in a variety of specialist areas that include cardiology and cardiac surgery, dentistry, dermatology, ENT, family medicine, general practice, internal medicine, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, endocrinology, vascular surgery ophthalmology, orthopaedics, paediatrics and neonatology, pulmonology, plastic surgery, nephrology, anaesthesia, gastroenterology, breast surgery, radiology, urology, intensive care unit and emergency department.

The City Hospital has sourced the best medical equipment and medical technologies from around the world, and has some of the most modern and advanced equipment in the UAE, including a 3T MRI, a 64 slice CT scanner, digital mammography for the most accurate breast cancer checks, a Digital Bone Densitometer for efficient osteoporosis assessment, as well as a digital catheterization laboratory, a full on-site pathology laboratory, conventional radiology, and ultrasound facilities.
