The UAE edition draws entries from schools across Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Dubai
Dubai, April 20, 2012: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading IT services, consulting and business solutions firm, announced the second international edition of TCS IT Wiz after the roaring success of the inaugural edition last year. The inter school IT Quiz to be held in Dubai on April 28, 2012 at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, Indian High School, Dubai.
With the aim of nurturing the human capital and develop local talent, TCS is rolling out the second international edition of this popular inter school IT Quiz for school students across UAE. Through TCS IT Wiz, the company aims to get school students interested about Information Technology and the possibilities that it brings for young, inquisitive minds brimming with energy and passion. IT plays an integral role in today's society and economy and is a key enabler for success in diverse fields.
The event targets students studying in classes 8-12, a time when most of them chart their career path, to encourage them to look at technology though a whole new perspective. There will be no entry fee. Multiple teams of two members are allowed from each school.
The TCS IT Quiz will mainly focus on application of Information Technology across various sectors and aspects such as software products, companies and brands, areas where IT has made an impact, history of IT and also internet world and unique websites.
Varun Kapur, Head of Middle East, Africa and Mediterranean operations of TCS said, "Over the years, we have learnt that quizzing can be a powerful teaching and learning tool. It is fun, exciting, participatory, and outside the classroom environment and we are excited about continuing this concept for the second consecutive year to the UAE. TCS IT Wiz, the biggest inter school IT Quiz programme in India, has been running for the last 12 years as a part the company's Corporate Social Initiatives. Overall Quiz Format: The written prelims are a common set of 20 questions for all the teams at the venue. Questions are in the form of oral, visual and audiovisual. Participants will answer the preliminary written round on the pre-printed answer sheets supplied by TCS.
Final: The top six teams from the written prelim would qualify for final. Only the best team from each school will be called on stage in the event of multiple teams from the same school qualifying for the final. These 6 teams will compete for the TCS IT Wiz UAE Champion title.
TCS IT Wiz UAE winners will walk away with exciting prizes including an ipad each. The winners and runners will be rewarded with special trophy and prizes. The six finalists will also receive an array of prizes from TCS ranging from Travel bags to pendrives and more.
Subject: The Quiz will focus on applications of Information Technology across various sectors such as world of Internet and unique web sites, IT buzzwords and acronyms, IT Personalia - international, national and local, advertisements of IT and communication companies, software products and brands, history of IT as well as the humorous side of IT.
