High-Definition Video Content Can Be Streamed in All Major Formats and Downloaded onto iPods and Zunes

Dubai, January 22, 2008 - TANDBERG, a leading global provider of telepresence, high-definition videoconferencing and mobile video solutions, introduced today a new version of the Content Server that increases the versatility of recorded high-definition video and multimedia presentations. Users can create, store, download and distribute video calls and multimedia presentations, providing viewers with the flexibility to access content anytime and through multiple devices.

Utilizing any standards-based videoconferencing system a user simply connects to the Content Server to record a message. TANDBERG's Content Server captures up to five concurrent video calls, including additional media such as PC presentations, documents, DVDs and other full motion sources.

With a new built-in library that is easily navigated via thumb-nail images, videoconferencing content can then simply be located and viewed through all major streaming media formats, including Microsoft Windows Media, QuickTime compatible MPEG 4, and RealPlayer. In addition, recorded content can be downloaded to portable media devices such as Apple's iPod and Microsoft's Zune allowing users the ability to access and view information whenever they need it.

The Content Server can be further leveraged by third-party applications via a rich Application Programming Interface (API). Using this fully documented, publicly available API, video content can now be posted to a Web site, or integrated directly into leading third-party applications, such as Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, IBM WebSphere, Accordent's Media Management System, Blackboard Learning Systems, and popular podcasting applications giving organizations the ability to broadcast messages to a wider audience.

The TANDBERG Content Server includes:

  • Content recording from all standards-based H.323 or SIP videoconferencing systems

  • High-definition, wide-format video support

  • Editing and library features for simple content creation and retrieval

"With time being the new currency, today's geographically dispersed and mobile workforce needs the flexibility to consume messages and content when it fits their schedules," said Beau Wardak, General Manager , Middle East , TANDBERG..  "Whether it's a university lecture, a corporate training session, a CEO briefing or virtually anything in between, organizations can now extend their reach and ensure that messages will be seen and heard across the enterprise with this new TANDBERG Content Server."

TANDBERG is currently taking orders for the TANDBERG Content Server and will start shipping product from January 21st 2008.
