Over 400 private sector companies benefited from the programme
Tamkeen has received some of the new companies that joined its Career Progression Programme which aims at providing training for the staff of participating companies based on their requirements, eventually leading to payroll increments.
Tamkeen's team was headed by Dr. Ahmed AbdulGhani Al-Shaikh, Tamkeen's VP for Enterprise and Human Capital Development, who made a presentation on the key features of the programme, extended his appreciation to the new joiners, and emphasized the importance of on-going training as an effective tool for staff development.
"This programme has been designed to meet training needs of employees within their careers and aims to increase the productivity level in the business sector and develop employees' skill set to allow them to move up the career ladder." Dr. Ahmed Al Sheikh was quoted as saying. "Tamkeen's Career Progression Programme will create an optimal environment for private sector businesses with many job opportunities for the Bahraini workforce, which is a vital element of the programme. It aims to develop human capital, a key supporter of economic development, and equip them with the knowledge and skills for career progression," he added.
Dr. Al Shaikh pointed out that the vast array of programmes and initiatives Tamkeen provides to the stakeholders is set to boost Bahraini employees' skills and abilities making them the employees of choice. "This requires the provision of many on-the-job training, putting in mind that training and work development are the two elements that the Bahraini workforce in the private sector when it comes to job selection and short-listing. We spare no effort at Tamkeen to address this issue via this programme and the other programmes provided from time to time." Dr. Al Shaikh said.
Addressing the participants, Tamkeen's Manager-Human Capital Development, Mr. Abdulmonem Al Shaikh, said "Tamkeen's Career progression programme is an ever-evolving programme especially in the sense that it has been designed to provide training and human capital development courses. It is centred around the Bahraini workforce to help them climb the corporate ladder and provide them with suitable career paths. This is translated into continuous results to be yielded even after the completion of the programme."
Mr. Abdulmonem said the programme is unique to Bahrain and the region. "The CPP aims to empower enterprises and businesses to go the extra mile of productivity by providing its employees more training opportunities. And thus, all businesses are invited to touch base with Tamkeen to benefit from the programme that will be a key enabler to them realizing their short and long term professional and training objectives," he added.
The participants gave their input on the programme and shared their individual experience pertaining to the programme. Representative of AlFalah Schools, Mr. AbdulGhani Habab, said "Tamkeen's programme provides much potential for employee progression as it offers work-specific training with an ability to stimulate employment requirements for the marketplace."
Meanwhile, Al Meer Group representative, Mr. Jalal Al Meer said, "The programme has met our corporate training needs. We would like to thank Tamkeen for the opportunity it has provided our employees with, and I urge other business owners to benefit from such programmes, to enhance employee output and increase productivity levels."
Furthermore, Tamkeen announced that it has allocated a budget worth BD 10.5 million for the Career Progression Programme attracting 9,000 Bahraini beneficiaries working in 450 different private sector companies.
One of the programme's milestones is that over 5,000 Bahrainis received salary increments of those who have successfully passed the training. The cost of salary increment has reached BD 6 million while the training cost has reached BD 4.5 million.

Tamkeen is a semi-autonomous yet independent authority which formulates strategic and operational plans to use the fees collected by the LMRA in order to enhance the overall prosperity of Bahrain by investing in Bahraini employability, job creation, and social support.

Tamkeen has invested more than BD 140 million in more than 70 projects that targeted more than 50,000 Bahraini nationals and organisations.
The development of programmes is continuing as Tamkeen's strategy to increase the number of beneficiaries on an ongoing basis, which reflects the kingdom's economic development in general.
