In recognition of the population's contributions to the segregation of waste in dedicated containers
Abu Dhabi - In collaboration with Averda Company, Tadweer (Waste Management Center - Abu Dhabi) has announced an awareness campaign in the eastern region of Abu Dhabi Island by releasing a vehicle, to encourage and motivate citizens to segregate waste at source, place recyclable waste in green containers, follow up on the cleanliness of the area, record public damage and take necessary action. As well as, promote additional services to the members of the region.
In comment, Eng. Nayel Al Shamsi, Project Manager, said: "We target all community members with this campaign; incorporating concepts of resource economization, reuse and recycling in order to create a conscious society whose members are aware of the environmental and economic importance of waste minimization, reuse and waste segregation at source in turning waste to a resource. These practices go hand in hand with our values of sustainability, change culture, excellence, innovation, social responsibility, empowerment and care which achieve the plan and vision of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. "
Eng. Al Shamsi, Project Manager, added: “The awareness campaign covers all areas located in the eastern sector of Abu Dhabi Island – east of Al-Maqta Bridge – facing the capital. By launching this awareness campaign, Tadweer aims to achieve a series of results; the most important of which is to increase the environmental awareness of the population of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi by spreading the culture of segregating waste at source, changing societal behaviors and reducing general aesthetic defects. To achieve that, Green and Black containers will be provided at each house and meeting point, collected separately by vehicles; increasing the financial return through resource retrieval and investing that financial return in Tadweer’s projects.”
It is worth mentioning that this campaign is of great importance on the environmental and economic fronts, since it will contribute to avoiding negative health and environmental impacts, and providing more economic return through the recycling and reuse of waste.
