Dubai, UAE - 8th April 2013: The Supreme Committee of Maktoum Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Initiatives for Legal Excellence is preparing to hold its final ceremony for the initiatives on Saturday, 20 April 2013 at Grand Hyatt, Dubai.
Under the patronage and presence of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Judicial Council, Organised by Dubai Courts, and Media sponsored by Dubai Media Incorporated, the Initiatives are first-of-its-kind in the Middle East that address various categories of the judicial and legal community as well as the law college students in the UAE.
The Initiatives aim at building a versed legal generation, develop the abilities of judiciary workers and stimulate legal entrepreneurship through four initiatives, namely Maktoum Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Moot Court Competition, Maktoum Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Legal Scientific Research Competition, Maktoum Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Legal Scholarships Program, in addition to the DIFC Courts Academy.
In his comments, Dr. Ahmed Saeed Bin Hazeem, General Director of Dubai Courts and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Maktoum Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Initiatives for Legal Excellence, said that the Initiatives have become a platform for the launch of several pilot programmes in the legal and judicial fields, which are of interest and care of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, for his eagerness to build a law generation and to develop the legal capacities of the judiciary workers and stimulate legal entrepreneurship.
The final ceremony will feature general and final rounds of the second session of 2013 Maktoum Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Moot Court Competition, honouring of the partners of Maktoum Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Initiatives for Legal Excellence, honouring of the first batch of graduates of the DIFC Courts' academy, as well as honouring of the winners in 2012 Maktoum Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Legal Scientific Research Competition, and honouring of the universities, participating in 2013 Maktoum Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Moot Court Competition.
General rounds of Maktoum Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Moot Court Competition will commence on the morning of Saturday, April 20, 2013, and continue until the evening of the same day, with the participation of a number of universities, namely UAE University, Al Jazeera University, University of Sharjah, University of Saint Joseph, Al Ain University of Science and Technology, Dubai Police Academy, Imam Malik College for Sharia & Law, and the American University in the Emirates. The rounds will conclude with a closing pleading during the closing ceremony of the Maktoum Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Initiatives for Legal Excellence.
