Grand draw of DSMG's 'Win-A-Dream' raffle on Friday
Dubai, 22 August, 2004: With less than a week remaining before the end of Dubai Summer Surprises 2004, shopping malls across Dubai are making the most of the last few days of the region's biggest summer extravaganza by wooing shoppers with an assortment of promotions and special offers.
Shopping malls have been offering great value on a wide range of merchandise from world-class brands with specials offers ranging from 30 to 70 percent. The merchandise covers a variety of brands and includes textiles, garments, perfume, electronics and household appliances.
The spectacular 'Win-A-Dream' DSS promotion of Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG) is also encouraging thousands of residents and visitors to shop at the participating malls.
The 'Win A Dream' promotion has been offering shoppers spending Dh. 200 the chance to win prizes up to Dh.2 million, including a dream home at the world-class Jumeirah Beach Residence plus a total of 10 Mitsubishi Pajeros during the 10 weeks of DSS. If a shopper makes the purchase with a MasterCard card, an additional coupon is provided, doubling the chances to win.
In a break from the past, the DSMG has introduced a new format that features two draws a week instead of the once-a-week draw that was held in previous years. The first weekly draw on Sunday offers the lucky winner a gift hamper from Paris Gallery worth Dh. 10,000 while at the second weekly draw to be held on Wednesday, a lucky shopper will win a Mitsubishi Pajero.
All coupons entered during the 10 weeks of DSS will also be raffled at the grand draw to be held on Friday, August 27. The lucky winner will receive a dream prize package consisting of a luxurious apartment at Jumeirah Beach Residence plus a Mitsubishi Pajero and a watch from an international brand worth Dh70,000, courtesy Paris Gallery.
Tim Jones, General Manager of Lamcy Plaza, said: ""During the last few weeks, Lamcy Plaza has seen a huge increase in the number of visitors, as a result of the various promotions and special offers of up to 40 percent from leading local and international brands. A majority of our visitors in the past week were families who have been picking up a wide variety of school items for children ahead of their new school year".
Myra Seale, Retail Manager of Al Mazaya Centre, said: "The 'Win-A-Dream' promotion plus the tempting offers made by top brands at Al Mazaya Centre has helped increase footfall and sales. We had a large increase in the number of visitors in July, and we expect this to reach record levels in August. Our visitors come from different nationalities, and include residents and those visiting Dubai from many Arab and Western countries".
Rebecca Arnold, Mall Manager of Mercato, said: "The percentage of sales varies from store to store but overall the mall has been doing very well this summer. Visitors have been attracted by the great offers of upto 60 percent from world-class brands at Mercato. People have been shopping for a variety of merchandise including home products and accessories, perfumes and shoes, in addition to visiting our restaurants."
She said that more purchases made meant better chances to win, especially since shoppers also have the opportunity to participate in Mercato's own mall promotion, which offers weekly prizes worth Dhs. 4,000 in gift vouchers. World-class brands at Mercato include Hugo Boss, Nine West, Rivoli and Milano.
Deepak Chawla , Mall Manager, Oasis Center, said: "The number of visitors to Oasis Centre increased by 25 percent in the last few weeks compared to the same period last year. Special offers from our stores and the 'Win-A-Dream' promotion have been very effective in influencing shoppers to visit our mall".
Mr. Morhaf Kishi, General Manager of the Hamarain Centre said, "Our mall has witnessed a huge increase in traffic with thousands of people visiting daily to enjoy a rewarding shopping experience. Hamarain Centre has created the correct ambience for DSS together with different entertaining activities for families and children. People from different nationalities have been visiting the mall, especially those from GCC countries, of which Saudi nationals form the majority, most of whom shop for clothes, perfume and 'Bukhoor'.
Dubai Summer Surprises 2004 began with the Arts Surprises organised by the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department, and will end on August 27 with the current theme of "Colour Surprises" organised by the Department of Health and Medical Services.
