LONDON - SchlumbergerSema, a business segment of Schlumberger Limited, today announced that it is implementing an additional high performance messaging center and over-the-air (OTA) service platform for Vodafone Ireland. This is part of Vodafone's messaging evolution program to enhance its future subscriber identify module (SIM)-based services capability. This is the third SchlumbergerSema short messaging service center (SMSC) to be installed at Vodafone Ireland, and will provide additional capacity, resilience and performance to enable the operator to build on its success in data revenue generation.

The OTA platform is compliant with 2G and 3G technologies, and will allow Vodafone Ireland to update current SIM cards deployed in the field so that new services and mobile marketing campaigns can be launched and updated remotely. The solution's open architecture and interfaces will enable the range of messaging services to be extended, while providing additional capacity for future growth without disrupting the high level of service expected by its customers.
