Middle East economies continue investments to help in improving and expanding oil refining and processing segment
SAS, the leading provider of business analytics software and services in the Middle East region, is set to showcase its diverse range of essential and strategic solutions for the region's petroleum industry at the first Middle East Process Engineering Conference and Exhibition (MEPEC) 2011, which will be held from today, October 23, and will run until October 26, 2011 at the Gulf International Convention Centre (Gulf Hotel) in Manama, Bahrain. The event is being held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Abdul Hussain Bin Ali Mirza, Minister of Energy, Kingdom of Bahrain, and is under the theme, 'Towards technological excellence and innovative solutions.' MEPEC 2011 will act as a platform for the leading company to highlight its key solutions to various Middle East companies involved in the processing and refining of oil to petroleum. SAS is the Gold Sponsor for the event while Saudi Aramco, is MEPEC's Prime Sponsor, one of the company's long standing customers.
According to a recent report from Energy Global, a leading research firm focused on the international energy segment, the Middle East region is currently faced with the challenge of expanding the petroleum industry to be able to compete with the international export markets and also meet the demands of the growing domestic market. The report also shows the significant role that the region plays as a key focal point for the global oil market with Saudi Arabia leading in the oil refinery segment. Economies in the Middle East are now investing towards improvement and expansion of their refineries and utilising new technologies to help improve automated operation and monitoring of complex technical processes. In line with this, SAS is looking to position itself in this rapidly developing segment by leveraging its solutions in Data Mining and Advanced Analytics, which could be applied in the Operations and Maintenance arena, thereby equipping the project team with an efficient and lean development process. The move follows the company's continuing support towards the latest trends and developments in the world of technology.
"We are eagerly looking forward to our participation at the first MEPEC in Bahrain, which will allow SAS the privilege to promote its wide range of strategic and reliable solutions across the participants and visitors of this pioneering event," said Frank Mollerop, Vice President, SAS Institute. "The Middle East's petroleum industry has witnessed dramatic growth and development over the last few years. With governments taking initiatives to invest more funds and key forecasts that show the segment within Bahrain and the rest of the Middle East will be enjoying continuous growth, we are eyeing to promote our solutions across the top players of this segment and ultimately play a key role in its development."
During the event, Horia Orenstein, Director - Advisory, SAS Institute, will be making a presentation on SAS Facility Integrity & Reliability Solutions for the Oil and Gas segment. The solutions provided for this segment includes predictive maintenance, forecasting and analysis, and energy trading and risk management systems. These solutions have been specifically designed for oil & gas companies to create intelligence from new and existing data sources and deliver information for effective decision making across the enterprise.
"MEPEC 2011 stems from deepening communications and exchanging experiences among participants, through conducting an integrated technical program discussing important topics. The conference and exhibition serves as an excellent opportunity for sharing knowledge, experiences and lessons learned on contemporary issues affecting industries that are process engineering related," said A. Mohsen Almajnouni, Conference Chairman, MEPEC 2011.
The event is being sponsored by 32 companies and features over 45 exhibitors from many local, regional, and international companies, suppliers, manufacturers participating in the exhibition that is being held in conjunction with the conference. MEPEC 2011 is organized by the Saudi Arabian Section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (SAS-AIChE) and the Bahrain Society of Engineers (BSE).
