Amman (Date) - Saraya Aqaba announced the commencement of phase one of "Towards a Greener Jordan" initiative by planting 2,000 trees in the Aqaba Bird Observatory in cooperation with the Jordanian Society for Sustainable Development. This initiative comes as part of Saraya's commitment to plant 50,000 trees in Jordan within the next 5 years. The trees are planted with the help of 200 volunteers from Al Hassan Youth Award.
Saraya Aqaba is aiming to plant 10,000 trees at the Aqaba Bird Observatory and part of that will be the Saraya Aqaba Nature Garden which will include native trees and plants from the south of Jordan, and will be hosted within the Aqaba Bird Observatory.
Ms. Dimah Khalili, Media Communications and Public Relations Manager at Saraya Holdings said: "Saraya is committed to contribute to the development of the communities neighboring its projects and preserving the local culture and the surrounding environment. We are pleased to announce the execution of our first environmental project in a conscious manner and we will continue to do so in the future".
Mr. Khaled Nassar, General Manager of the Jordanian Association for Sustainable Development said: "Saraya's initiative supports the partnership between the Jordanian Association for sustainable development and the private sector, to implement investment policies particularly the tourism sector. These policies take into consideration the protection of the environment while reinforcing positive roles carried out by the private sector; the most efficient use of the natural recourses as well as serving the local community are part of those roles. Saraya's initiation and support to the Aqaba bird's observatory is not limited to planting the tress, but aims towards consolidating the conception and path ".
Saraya implements its development and tourism projects according to the highest standards; preserving the natural environment of the areas which the projects are built upon, and therefore Saraya Aqaba adopted this initiative as a part of its commitment to protect the local environment.
Aiming at advancing and protecting the area from desertification and the environmental ramifications of industrial and constructional activities, the development vision of Saraya revolves around selecting undiscovered natural grounds and transforming them into attractive tourist destinations with consideration to the local community and cultures.
