Salford Business School in the United Kingdom is calling all Middle East managers to take part in a unique competition which will see the winner being offered a fully-funded place on Salford Business School's top-ranked MBA programme. Salford Business School will award the fully-funded place to a Middle East manager displaying ambition, drive and a determination to develop both themselves and their organisation.

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme is a coveted management qualification, designed to help managers to develop the business skills and personal attributes needed to become a great leader.

The Salford MBA is accredited by AMBA, the Association of MBAs. AMBA operates at a global level, accrediting business schools on every continent and its internationally-recognised kite mark is only awarded to programmes of the highest quality.

The Salford MBA is delivered at the University of Salford's state-of-the-art facility at MediaCityUK (http://www.mediacityuk.co.uk/) home to the BBC and many other businesses from the digital, creative and media industries.

The MBA Global Leadership Scholarship competition is offering one resident across the Middle East the opportunity to study for the full-time Salford MBA, with three possible start dates during 2012 and 2013. The scholarship is worth £16,120 and entrants, as well as meeting all standard Salford MBA criteria, must submit an essay on the following topic 'What does leadership mean to you and how can a Salford MBA help you contribute to global leadership?'

MBA graduate Rami Al-Awartani cannot praise the Salford MBA highly enough:

"Doing the MBA has really paid off for me. It totally changed the way I think about business and has helped me develop the skills to work in a much more strategic role as Project Manager at Omnix International L.L.C. I am currently based in Jordan but working in Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Iraq, so it has certainly led to many new interesting experiences.

"I have recommended the Salford MBA to a number of people and know some who have gone on to study there with much success. It was a fantastic experience for me and I'd thoroughly recommend it," he adds.

Current MBA student Samer Suleiman left his role in Saudi Arabia as a distribution manager for Nestle to study the Salford MBA:

"I felt it was the right time to invest in an MBA before I got too entrenched in working life," he says.

Once Samer graduates he plans to return to the Middle East and seek employment in a global FMCG company. He feels the MBA will have helped get him one step closer to his goals.

"The Salford MBA has really changed my mind set, from how I interpret news to how I approach problem solving, the MBA has made me question everything. It feels like my thought processes have been broken down and rebuilt in a way that is far more questioning and of far more value to the workplace."

Professor Amanda Broderick, Dean of Salford Business School, says the reason behind the scholarship offer is simple:

"The Salford MBA welcomes a diverse mix of students from many nationalities, backgrounds and cultures and this vibrant environment enhances learning as students share experiences. We want to draw our students from across the world, and our Global Leadership Scholarship competition is just one way of opening our doors and broadening our horizons."

The University of Salford has recently announced a range of work around the post-construction efforts in Iraq. The Minister of Finance, His Excellency Dr Rafe Hiad Al-Issawi, has signed an agreement with the university which will involve 120 students coming to Salford each year, from the summer of 2012, studying English and then taking a masters degree in business, law, science or engineering.

Salford academics have also worked with colleagues at the University of Basra to set up a dynamic, multi-disciplinary research centre - the Basra Centre for Development and Innovation, which allows Iraqis to benefit from Salford's top-ranking research and expertise.
