RTA Highlights the Significance of Sport
Dubai (United Arab Emirates): Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) sponsored E-Sports Junior Football Team in Dubai Snickers Junior League during the period from October 2007 to June 2008; an event which will witness participation of 64 teams competing to win championship trophy.
Dr. Aysha Al Busmait, Director of Marketing & Corporate Communication Dep't at RTA Corporate Support Services Sector said that RTA is keen to capitalize all efforts & potentials capable of enriching sports events in the UAE in general. "Being fully aware of the importance of sport in community development as well as shaping a healthy & robust sport generation, RTA made a giant step to patronize sports talents who form the cornerstone of sport in future, and demonstrate human potentials capable of developing into superstars for the UAE in the near future" she commented.
Dr. Aysha further added that the RTA, despite shouldering a huge assignment of providing all means of convenience to road users in the emirate of Dubai through land, marine & metro transit system, is also concerned with all other aspects which can enrich the UAE community by means of sports activities at all disciplines and age categories. The best demonstration of such attitude is sponsoring E-Sports Junior Football Team in Dubai Snickers Junior League and qualifying them to grow into worthy football players in the UAE.
"The aim of the Championships is to enable juniors to play competitive matches against other teams of similar age group, as well as taking part in Snickers League encompassing 900 registered players from Dubai, Abu Dhabi & Sharjah. Participation in itself reflects the genuine desire of E-Sports to develop its sports skills through this League, and gain an experience that can aid them to engage in other championships. RTA opted to sponsor this team in order to fulfill its dreams in creating an excellent team capable of clinching championships later on" said Dr. Aysha.
Al Busmait explained that Snickers Junior Football League is a 6 Junior Football League open to teams in five different age groups: U7s/ U9s/ U11s/ U13s and U15s. The league runs over 12 weeks (3 months) each year, in 3 separate seasons comprising 64 teams and attended by 500 to 1500 spectators, making it the biggest regular football event in the GCC. All matches are played at Dubai Country Club and Dubai Exiles under the supervision of qualified referees/coaches. At the completion of the four-week season a presentation is held and prizes offered for the categories of Golden Boot, Goal Keeper of the Season, and Player of the Season.
