Rotana Holding, owned and chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, was awarded "Innovation of The Year Award 2009" by CEO Middle East magazine, part of ITP, during a ceremony held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The ceremony was attended by more than 250 VIPs, media personalities, decision makers, executives and financial experts from both the private and public sectors.
It is the first time for "CEO Middle East" to hold such occasion in Saudi Arabia and Rotana Holding is the first to receive such award. The CEO Magazine awards are to celebrate the success and achievement of leading companies and their innovative projects in different business fields.
The Prince's private investments in the media include Rotana, LBC and Alresala channel. Rotana Holding is 100% owned by HRH. Rotana was launched in 2003 and expanded at a very fast pace. The company has now become the largest producer of Arabic music in the world and one of the largest producers of film, broadcaster of premium TV programs and entertainment channels. Rotana includes a bouquet of 7 free-to-air TV channels: Music, Clip, Tarab, Khalijiyah, Zaman, Cinema in addition to LBC and broadcasts the most up to date Arabic music and music videos to the highest aesthetic quality to its audience around the world. Furthermore, the Rotana has its own magazine, café chain and known as the only TV company to produce and also air its programs on its own channels, in addition to producing and distributing its own CDs and music in digital format world wide. Rotana's film library includes %40 of the total of Egyptian films ever made. The company's headquarters are in Riyadh with branches in Jeddah, Beirut, Cairo, Kuwait and Dubai. In 2007 Rotana announced its partnership with LBCSAT in which HRH also owns a %85 interest and in 2008 year, its partnership with Fox which is part of News Corp. to launch Fox Movies to the MENA region that went on air in the same year.
